Where KDP is not available

Account setup can't be completed in a small number of sanctioned countries, plus various tiny territories and dependencies. Everywhere else, sign-up works even where the payout method varies.

Marketplaces vs. availability — two different questions

"Is KDP available in my country?" usually means one of two things, and the answers differ. Where your book is SOLD is a short list: 13 Amazon Kindle marketplaces, from Amazon.com to Amazon.in. Where you can SIGN UP as an author is a much longer list — 180+ countries — because Amazon lets authors worldwide publish into those marketplaces and pays them wherever their bank is. So an author in a country with no local Amazon store still publishes normally; their books simply sell on Amazon.com and the other 12 stores.

Getting paid is the part that actually varies

Account eligibility is nearly universal; payout method is what differs. Major economies get direct deposit in local currency with a $1 minimum. Countries without a local electronic-transfer arrangement get wire transfer (with a ~$100 minimum) or, very commonly, authors route payouts through a Payoneer or Wise virtual USD/GBP/EUR account. None of this blocks publishing — it only changes how and when the money lands. The table above resolves the specific countries people ask about most.

The handful of countries that are blocked

A small set of sanctioned countries (Iran, Cuba, Syria, North Korea, Democratic Republic of Congo) cannot complete KDP account setup, along with various tiny territories and dependencies. These are the genuine exceptions to KDP's near-global reach. If you're in one of them, third-party aggregators are usually the only route to the Kindle Store, and even those can be restricted.

Methodology

Marketplaces. The Kindle marketplace list is Amazon's current set of Kindle stores a KDP ebook distributes to. Print (paperback/hardcover) distributes to a slightly different set of marketplaces.

Country availability. Sign-up eligibility and the unsupported list come from Amazon's KDP account-eligibility help page. Payout method per country is from the KDP payment-options page and reflects the method tied to a bank in that country; where local transfer isn't offered, authors commonly use Payoneer or Wise virtual accounts.

Reach and languages. The 245-countries and 40-languages figures are Amazon's own disclosed footprint. "Reach" counts where books can sell, which is broader than the marketplace storefronts and broader than author sign-up countries.

Currency. Availability and payout rules change; this reflects Amazon's published help pages as of 2026-06-24. The exact author-country count is cited as "180+" rather than a precise integer Amazon does not publish cleanly.

Amazon KDP Country Availability FAQ

Which countries is Amazon KDP available in?
KDP accepts authors from 180+ countries — you can open an account and publish from most of the world, including all of North America and Europe, most of Asia, Africa, and Latin America. Once published, your books can reach readers in 245 countries and territories across Amazon's 13 Kindle marketplaces. A short list of sanctioned countries (Iran, Cuba, Syria, North Korea, Democratic Republic of Congo) cannot complete account setup.
Is Amazon KDP available in India, Pakistan, and Nigeria?
Yes to all three — they're among the most-searched and are fully supported for author sign-up. India is paid by direct deposit in INR; Pakistan and Nigeria are also supported for direct deposit. More broadly, KDP is available across South Asia, Southeast Asia, the Middle East, and Africa; the only thing that varies by country is how you receive royalties.
How do I get paid by KDP in my country?
Payment method is set by your bank's location. Most major countries get direct deposit (electronic funds transfer) with a low or no minimum. Where local direct deposit isn't offered, KDP falls back to wire transfer (with a minimum) or, in practice, authors use a Payoneer or Wise virtual USD account to receive payouts. The table above shows the method for the most-asked-about countries.
How many Amazon marketplaces does KDP sell on?
Amazon runs 20+ retail marketplaces worldwide, and KDP distributes to a subset that differs by format: 13 Kindle ebook stores, 14 for paperback, and 12 for hardcover (see the table above). Print adds stores like Poland and Sweden but drops Brazil, Mexico, and India. Other Amazon stores (Amazon.ae, Amazon.sa, Amazon.com.tr, Amazon.sg) aren't KDP marketplaces in any format, so your book isn't listed there — but readers in those countries buy through Amazon.com (US), the default store anywhere without a local marketplace.
Which countries can't use Amazon KDP?
Account setup can't be completed in a small number of sanctioned or restricted countries: Iran, Cuba, Syria, North Korea, Democratic Republic of Congo, plus various small territories and dependencies. Everywhere else, sign-up is available even if the royalty payout method varies.
