How Big Is the Roblox Economy?
The Roblox economy is the network of paid experiences, virtual goods, and Robux that flows between players and the developers who build for the platform. Its scale is best measured three ways: reach (Roblox reports around 140 million daily active users), supply (the tens of thousands of live games and the developers behind them, tracked in the stats above), and value (the $1.5B+ a year Roblox pays developers, plus the per-game revenue distributions shown below). This page measures the developer-driven side of that economy - the games, makers, and payouts - not Roblox Corporation's investor financials. For a game developer that is where the market opportunity sits: sort the full game and developer datasets to see where the money and players actually concentrate, and which genres are still underserved.
How the Roblox Economy Works
Players buy Robux, the platform's virtual currency, and spend it inside experiences on game passes, developer products, and premium subscriptions. Roblox takes a marketplace cut and pays developers a 70% share of the Robux earned in their games. Developers then convert Robux back to real money through the Developer Exchange (DevEx) program at roughly $0.0038 USD per Robux. The estimated earnings shown here are modeled from each game's visit count using that flow - 2% engagement, 150 Robux average session spend, the 70% developer share, and the DevEx rate - so the numbers reflect what developers plausibly take home, not gross Robux spent.
Developer Earnings and Monetization
Earnings on Roblox are extremely top-heavy: a small set of hit games (Brookhaven, Adopt Me, Grow a Garden, and the latest breakouts) captures the bulk of the spend, while most experiences earn little. The levers that separate the two are concurrent players, session time, and how aggressively a game monetizes through passes and products. To dig into the money side, browse the top-earning developers leaderboard, compare genres by revenue and competition, or model your own game's payout with the Roblox revenue and DevEx calculators below.
