How Fortnite Creative Maps Actually Earn

Unlike most platforms, Fortnite creator earnings are not a guess. Epic pays out of an engagement pool, and the input to that formula is minutes played, which Epic publishes per map per day. That is the figure in the table. We project the latest full day across a month at $1,100 per million minutes, the rate Epic's own disclosures work out to: it paid creators $352M in 2024 against 5.23 billion hours of creator playtime. The estimate is blank for Epic's own modes, because Epic pays itself nothing. Two things move a real payout off it. Epic weights day-one and day-seven return rates into the engagement score, so two maps with identical minutes can earn different amounts, and since January 2026 in-island item sales have paid separately, which no public figure covers per map.

Why Most Maps Are Missing From This Table

Epic's catalogue holds 284,000 discoverable maps. Fewer than 5,000 of them held more than 10 concurrent players on their best recent day, and over four fifths recorded no players at all in a week. This table lists the ones above 10 concurrent, the same floor we use for Roblox, because a map nobody opened teaches you nothing about what works. The full catalogue is still what the percentages are measured against, so the share that gets zero players is a real number rather than an impression.

Reading the Table for a Gap Rather Than a Hit

Peak concurrent players tells you how big a map got; minutes played tells you what it earned; average session and day-one retention tell you whether it held anyone. The interesting rows are where those disagree. A map with modest concurrency but long sessions and high retention compounds minutes far better than a bigger map people bounce off, and it is competing against far fewer rivals. Filter by tag to see how a niche behaves as a group before deciding whether to build in it.

Fortnite Creative Maps FAQ

How much do Fortnite Creative map makers earn?
Epic distributes 40% of Fortnite's net item shop and V-Bucks revenue to creators through an engagement payout, divided by minutes played and weighted by retention. Epic's own figures put the rate between $1,100 and $1,500 per million minutes: it paid $352M in 2024 across 5.23 billion hours of creator playtime. A map holding 1,000 concurrent players for a month generates about 43 million minutes, so roughly $48,000 to $65,000 before Epic's platform fee.
How many Fortnite Creative maps are there?
Epic's public catalogue currently exposes about 284,000 discoverable maps. Trackers that quote larger numbers are usually counting every map they have ever seen, including delisted and unpublished ones, which Epic no longer lists.
What is the difference between UEFN and Fortnite Creative?
Fortnite Creative is the original in-game building toolset, marked FNC in the table. UEFN is Unreal Editor for Fortnite, a desktop editor released in 2023 that supports scripting, custom assets and far more complex games. Most maps holding meaningful player counts today are built in UEFN.
How often do these Fortnite map stats update?
Daily. Epic publishes per-map metrics on a rolling seven-day window and deletes anything older. Figures shown are from each map's most recent complete day, since the current day is always partial.
Why is Battle Royale in a list of creator maps?
Epic ships its own modes through the same catalogue, so Battle Royale, Reload and OG appear alongside creator maps. They are worth leaving in, because they are what a creator's map competes with for a player's attention, and the gap between them is the real ceiling of the creator economy. Their payout estimate is blank because Epic earns nothing from its own engagement pool.
